LAHORE Stressing that political justice is the right of people of Balochistan, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif demanded holding former President Pervez Musharraf accountable for the murder of Akbar Bugti Speaking at the Assembly floor on Wednesday, he said that a dictator declared such a person as traitor who held key govt posts, represented Federation and was considered a hero by people of Balochistan. Shahbaz said that people of Balochistan should be satisfied in the interest of the Federation. Difficult decisions would have to be taken in the interest of survival of the country, he added. Terming unanimous approval of National Finance Commission Award as a milestone in the history of Pakistan, he said that it would promote sentiments of cohesion and brotherhood among the people of the country. He said that NFC Award has removed misunderstanding among provinces and helped in strengthening the Federation. He said that Federation and the provincial governments displayed large heartedness in the approval of NFC Award due to which resources for Balochistan increased from Rs 43 billion to Rs 83 billion. He said that Punjab has contributed purely from its own recourses and not made any demand from Federation. He said that it was a humble gesture of goodwill from nine crore people of Punjab for their Balochi brethren and reflected their spirit of sacrifice and sentiments of brotherhood. Appreciating the gesture of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Gilani, Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin and provincial Chief Ministers, he said that credit goes to democratic government for unanimous approval of NFC Award. He said that dictators weakened the foundations of the country through use of force but Pakistans image has been restored due to unanimous approval of NFC Award in the democratic era. He said that though the dictator made tall claims of development and progress but in fact, national resources were looted ruthlessly under dictators rule and no serious attempt was made for progress and uplift due to which Pakistan is currently facing serious energy crisis. He said that had Bhasha Dam been constructed in the last era instead of raising slogans of electing the dictator in uniform 10 times, the country would not have been plunged into darkness. Referring to the action being taken against illegal high-rise buildings, he said that drive against illegal structures was launched on the Apex Court directives and in the light of Kiyani Commission report. He said that the previous regime took no action against illegal plazas despite getting the report. He said that the present government could not take action against illegal high-rise buildings due to stay orders issued by the PCO judges. Later, he said, after restoration of judiciary, the government again raised this issue in the Apex Court. He said that the court ordered implementation of Kiyani Commission report in letter and spirit. He said that the government launched demolition operation against 19 multi-storey plazas, which were completely vacant. He said that a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Justice (r) Amir Raza for action against illegal plazas located in backward areas. He said that the purpose of drive against illegal plazas was to ensure supremacy of law so that nobody could dare violate law on the basis of wealth. Referring to the plaza of Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, he said that a technical committee has been set up, which would be subservient to the House Committee and its report will be fully implemented. Shahbaz vowed to extend warm welcome to President Zardari whenever he visited this province again. He was responding to a point of order by PPP MPA Nargis Faiz Awan. The CM apprised the House that he was not absent deliberately during the arrival and stay of President Asif Ali Zardari in Lahore. My visit to Turkey was scheduled through Foreign Ministry and Pakistan Embassy in Turkey three months ago and I was quite unaware of the Presidents arrival in Punjab, he added. Shahbaz Sharif assured that he would welcome and say 'Ji Aya Noo to President Zardari in accordance with his constitutional status and prestige.
