Kashmir settlement to guarantee peace in South Asia

The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the demand of the people of Kashmir to exercise the right to self-determination had been endorsed by Pakistan, India and the United Nations. According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing the South Asian Hospitality Meeting on the eve of the 59th National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, the APHC Chairman maintained that the settlement of the Kashmir dispute would guarantee peace and prosperity not only in Kashmir but also in the whole region of South Asia. He pointed out that the world powers including United States had the moral obligation to reciprocate to the peaceful resistance initiated by the people of Kashmir. After the speech, the APHC Chairman met with the parliamentarians, religious leaders, diplomats, businessmen, Members of Congress and leaders of inter-faith community. On the other hand, senior APHC leader Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement in Srinagar expressed gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for expressing solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris by observing Kashmir Solidarity Day on 5th February. The spokesman of the Bar Association in his statement denounced the continued illegal detention of Bar leaders, Mian Abdul Qayoom and Ghulam Nabi Shaheen. The Joint Association of Kashmiri Affected Families in a meeting strongly condemned the continued human rights violations by Indian troops and police personnel in the territory.
