LAHORE - The annual oil painting exhibition by Muhammad Gulzar, which began on Monday, continues at Alhamra Art gallery.

Over the years, this exhibition has well earned the reputation for attracting excited and young exhibitors, besides the much admired, more established member artists. The exhibition will continue till Feb 5th.

The work includes superbly done oil colour paintings and significant landscapes portraits.

Mrs Shaista Pervaiz of Pakistan Muslim League-N was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.

One portrait depicts the fine group of trees on the right, faithfully copied from nature, having artistic elaboration of pure environmental beautification.

A total of 76 painting were showcased in the art gallery. All the techniques in the exciting aerial scenes show that the artist has painted not only with his hands but his heart as well.

The nature seems the prime source of inspiration for the artist shown in his work.

A large number of students, their families and people from different walks of life attended the exhibition.

Among all the paintings, a few also reflected the romantic beauty of the rural life to which the visitors termed the masterpieces of artist’s imaginative mind. These paintings are a treat for all those nature lovers who like wandering around in green fields and liked pastoral life.

“I prefer oil painting over other techniques because it allows for a more creative approach. Today I have displayed 76 painting of different places and these painting are showcased after two years,” Muhammad Gulzar told The Nation.

He added: “My work gives visitors the opportunity to see the many and varied way in which I used oil paint from traditional approach to more innovative uses of material, style, and content.

“I paint in a variety of styles and subject matter ranging from the real life, equine portraits and intuitive celestial scenes and gardens.”
