MULTAN-Federal Minister for Railways Kh Saad Rafiq has said that politicians can only be disqualified by the masses and judicial decisions cannot be used to suppress the politics.
Talking to the media here on Saturday, he said that respect for judiciary and Pakistan Army is a national duty of everyone but political disputes should not be taken to the courts. "The country will not gain stability even after elections if we continue to exhibit the same behaviours," he warned. He said that the state institutions should understand that the country has to be run by the parliament and distance among institutions would deliver serious harm to the state.
He lashed out at NAB and said that the ineligibility of the institution jeopardised democracy. He asserted that the only way to move forward is to let the institutions perform their duties. He said that the Chairman NAB is a retired judge and he should be given respect. "We have good expectations from the new NAB Chairman," he added.
He said that the PML-N does not criticise judiciary. "We rendered sacrifices for the independence of judiciary, we faced jails and oppression. We respect all and demand respect in return," he added. He said that the politicians run the country and they should be respected too. He said that in other parts of the world, some people attempted to exclude public representatives by using some other means but this formula failed. He said that "dharna walas" tried to take support from judiciary after the failure of their sit-in and took political fight to the court.
Referring to Dr Shahid Masood, he said that some people subjected the government and PML-N to baseless criticism but TV channels unveiled their real faces. He said that if all the people in the country are bad then how this country would make progress. He said that it appears as if the politicians have not learnt lesson from the past and if they continue to exhibit the same behaviour the country would not gain stability even after election.
