LAHORE - The Pakistan Hockey Federation has decided to hold the Inter-clubs Hockey Tournaments at districts, regional and provincial level from January 13 to 31 to promote the game at the grass root level. The National level round will be played from February 5 to 12 at the National Hockey Stadium Lahore. Initially, the inter district matches in a district will be organized by the respective district associations, in which all the bona fide registered clubs will be bound to participate. Any club which will not participate in the activity in the district level will lose its right of vote in its respective district hockey association. The winner club of district will qualify for the regional level event. The winner club of each district having qualified would participate in the event at regional level. And the winner team of each region will figure in the inter clubs competition at the Provincial level. That would follow at the provincial level. The top team of Northern Areas will be included in the round being organized by the NWFP Hockey Association. Finally the first and second top club teams of each province will qualify for the national level round at Lahore in February. The round will be organized by the Punjab Hockey Association. In this round one top club team each of Islamabad and AJ&K will also be included which will be played amongst 10 teams. The national champion club will then participate in the International Club Championship, organized by Asian Hockey Federation. In order to make the competition more attractive, each club will have the right to select two players from departments, provided the players have the domicile of that area.
