Those running our government need to know that accepting one's fault may be a brave deed, as is the desire for peace or the wish to seek consensus with one's opponents but up to only a limit. We need not degrade ourselves no matter what happens. I wish to point out that it did not look good at all that we accepted the violation of our air territories by Indian fighter planes with the ruse that it was 'just a technical violation'. Being defensive is poor as a strategy and we should always be on the offensive. There is a dire need to show unity at this point, a unity among all the sinews and fibers of our government and society. That would mean a unity between our political parties, civil and military bureaucracy, the corporate sector and all media. -SADIA ZAFAR BAIG, Lahore, December 20.
