Hazrat Imam Hussain’s Chehlum observed


LAHORE – The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) was observed in the provincial capital amid tight security while cellular services remained suspended until the conclusion of the procession on Thursday night.
Several processions in connection with the Chehlum were taken out in the City that converged into the main procession.
The main procession of the Chehlum was taken out from interior Delhi Gate and passing through its route including Masjid Wazir Khan, Pani Wala Talab, Rang Mehal, Bazaar-e-Hakeeman and Bhaati Gate concluded at Karbala Gamay Shah.
Several majalis were also held across the City in which noted religious scholars threw light on the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala.
The Lahorites setup stalls of milk, water and food on the route of the processions, while public and private ambulances and medical professionals remained on the procession route to deal with any emergency. Strict security measures including suspension of cell phone services and banning pillion riding were the major steps to avert any untoward incident on the day of Chehlum of Martyrs of Karbala.
While, the route of the procession was monitored by the administration, law enforcing agencies and elected representatives in a control room setup at the DCO Office, Lahore, besides the surveillance of intelligence agencies. Scores of policemen were deployed on the route of the procession with snipers on the roof tops of the houses to counter any threat.
