The police claimed to have busted a motorcycle-lifters gang and arrested it six members including the ringleader while one of its member managed to escape.

Vehari DPO Sadiq Ali Dogar stated this while addressing the media persons here at DSP Office the other day. He said that following a host of motorcycle and cellphone snatching incidents, he constituted a team under the supervision of DSP Daud Hasnain and comprised of Mailsi City Police SHO Rana Naik Muhammad, SI Asif Mehmood Khan, ASI Abdul Qayyum and ASI Laal Gul to trace the criminals.

The team members worked hard on scientific lines and traced the gangsters. The police managed to nab gang ringleader Muhammad Nawaz alias Shadi, Muhammad Sajid, Ghulam Akbar, M Irfan, Jamshaid and Nawaz. The police also recovered eight motorbikes worth Rs0.6 million and five 30 bore pistols from their possession. The DPO also informed that one of the gang member Asif, son of Allah Wassaya run away during the raid. Sadiq Dogar announced prize and commendation certificates for the team members.

Meanwhile, unidentified dacoits took away huge quantity of electricity wire from Mailsi Floor Mills the other night. The incident took place when six dacoits barged into the mills, held the security guards hostage and made off with electric wire worth Rs0.6 million on a truck.
