ISLAMABAD - Fully supporting the constitution of Special Trial Courts manned by Armed Forces personnel to deal with terrorism related cases, All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Secretary General Dr Amjad said that his party fully supports all endeavours of the government to curb the menace of terrorism from the motherland.

Disclosing the decisions of the Central Working Committee of the party here at party’s secretariat on Saturday, Dr Amjad said that the party would continue efforts to bring all the factions of Muslim Leagues on one platform.

He further said that it was also decided in the apex body of the party to fully participate in the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan for which the party was busy completing spade work.

The meeting held under his chair had constituted 12 wings of the party across the country and assigned them the task to activate the party and enhance party activities, including enrolment of new voters.

During the course of discussion, the party leaders had sought guidance from the party Chairman Gen.(Retd) Pervez Musharraf on video-link.

Responding to media men questions, Dr Amjad termed it false and frivolous allegation that his party was trying to destabilise Pakistan People’s Party government in Sindh, adding that PPP poor performance has endangered their government in the province.

Giving details about the plan for unifying the Muslim Leagues, he said that a lot many disenchanted elements of various parties, including Functional Muslim League of Pir Pagaro, PML-Q and ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) had approached the party chairman and pushed him to work toward this end.

Even some powerful elements from Pakistan People’s Party were also ready to join this conglomeration of political elements from different political background for the greater good of serving the people of Pakistan.

To another question, he rubbishes the notion that APML was doing all this with the backing of armed forces of Pakistan. “We have never sought the help of army in the past and have no plan to do so in future,” he categorically said, adding that Gen.(Retd) Musharraf believes in the power of masses and was practicing popular politics.

To a question, he said that they were busy doing spade work for taking part in the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, adding that they stand fair chance of forming future government in Gilgit-Baltistan keeping in view the popularity of their party in Northern Areas.

To another question, Dr Amjad said that in the next general elections in the country his party would contest elections in alliance with MQM and religious parties.

He Dr Amjad said that his party’s stand on terrorism was vivid and clear and they considered that till the elimination of last terrorist from the motherland this fight should continue, adding that party’s Chairman Gen.(Retd) Pervez Musharraf had survived several life attempts due to his bold and clear-cut stand against militancy.
