Punjab wants blue-eyed as Pindi NAB chief

ISLAMABAD - The National Accountability Bureau [NAB] had announced to inaugurate two new offices in Multan and Sukkar on January 1 but the bureau has not only missed the date, there is still no headway in this connection, it has been learnt.
A well-placed source told The Nation that Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry-led NAB seemed interested in mere making tall claims just to get some coverage in media. The NAB had recently announced that its two new offices NAB Multan and NAB Sukkur will be inaugurated on January 1, 2015 but these offices have not been formally established yet.
Sources said that the bureau had to notify 60 transfers and postings on December 31, 2014 but could not do so due to 'political pressure'.
Sources close to the Chairman NAB informed that Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has telephoned the NAB boss to appoint Husnain Ahmad as Director General NAB Rawalpindi who is currently working as DG NAB Lahore. The post of DG NAB Rawalpindi is vacant as Col (Retd) Shahzad Anwar Bhatti has retired on January 1, 2015.
The sources said that Chairman NAB wanted to appoint DG Maj (Retd) Shahzad Saleem as DG NAB Rawalpindi as he had reportedly helped him during investigation of NICL case.
