RAWALPINDI: The Food Branch of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board on Wednesday imposed fines amounting to Rs110,000 on food outlets for unhygienic food and poor cleanliness conditions.

According to RCB spokesman Qaiser Mahmood, food branch team on the directive of the Cantonment Executive Officer Dr. Saima Shah conducted surprise raids in Westridge and Qasim Market areas and imposed Rs 30,000 on Pizza Squire, Rs 10,000 on Karachi Refreshment Center, Rs 4000 on Samosa Center, Rs15000 on Mr. Burger, Rs5000 on Azhar Chicken shop, Rs10,000 on Krispo Fast Food and Rs25000 on Lazat Kada Hotel on rules violations. The team also collected 22 food samples which were sent to the lab for quality tests.

He said the teams also visited a number of food outlets and issued notices on poor cleanliness. They ordered them to maintain standard else face strict action.–.–APP

Lok Virsa to screen film “Dupatta” on Jan 6

ISLAMABAD: Lok Virsa Mandwa Film Club will organize the screening of a 1950s romantic film “Dupatta” on January 6.

The 1952 film “Dupatta” was produced by Aslam Lodhi and Directed by S. Fazli. The film’s cast includes Noor Jehan, Ajay Kumar, Sudhir, Yasmin, and Ghulam Muhammad.

Set in war-time, the film narrates a romance between the lead character ‘Bulbul’, played by Noor Jehan, and ‘Roshan’ played by Ajay Kumar.

Together, they go against all odds to marry each other only to lose their precious new world to the World War which breaks soon after.

Sudhir’s character simply named “Doctor” enters at this point and the audience witnesses a new but reluctant romance brewing between the Bulbul and Doctor. A final twist is served towards the end of the film.

“Dupatta” is a beloved classic for many reasons. It handles well a sensitive subject, and has fine performances by the lead actors. The timeless musical tracks such as “Baat hi baat mein”, “Main ban patang ud jaaoon re”, “Saanwariya koi tohe pukaare” and the most popular “Chaandni raatein”.–APP
