Workers protest against possible privatisation of Wapda

Kandhkot - Workers of All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Union came out on roads here on Wednesday in protest against the possible privatisation of Wapda. According to details, the union workers assembled outside the local press club and raised slogans in support of their demands. They were holding banners and placards in their hands, inscribed with slogans. Prominent among those who addressed the protestors included Asghar Ali Bijrani, Pakistan Hydro Electric Workers Union divisional chairman , Rasheed Ahmed Shah, vice chairman, Younis Malik and others.

Talking to media on the occasion, the protestors said that privatisation of Wapda and other companies was unjustified as well as against the rights of employees as guaranteed in the constitution.

They lamented that the government had paid no heed to their demands.

They demanded the prime minister, Wapda chairman and other authorities concerned to stop Wapda’s privatisation and instead resolve their genuine issues immediately; otherwise they would be forced to prolong their protest. Finally, the protestors dispersed peacefully.
