KARACHI - Dispelling impression of differences and rifts in the PPP ranks, Sindh Information Minister Ms Shazia Marri has said the party is united under the leadership of Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari and was fully committed to serve the masses. Addressing a news conference at Sindh Secretariat on Thursday, she said that party workers, who were already in a state of shock after the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, were perturbed due to such statements so it was the responsibility of all senior PPP leaders to come forward to accomplish the mission of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. When her attention was drawn towards the meeting of Makhdoom Amin Fahim with veteran politician Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, she said Makhdoom Sahib is the senior vice-chairman of PPP and he met with Jatoi in his personal capacity. Marri said that all of the old PPP leaders, who had worked with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, are respectable and an asset of the party. It is high time for all senior leaders to strengthen the party, which has come in power only two and half months ago, she said adding the people have pinned great hopes on the PPP government. The information minister said that people want relief, food and shelters and they were not interested in such statements. She said Pakistan was passing through a critical phase and facing multiple challenges so it was the utmost duty of all political leaders to sit together and work for the betterment of the masses. Shazia Marri said that PM's recent visit to Sindh was a good omen, which will put an end to differences among the federating units. She said that Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had taken up the issue of NFC and the Prime Minister had assured that it would be announced soon and all constitutional requirements would be fulfilled. She said that the issue of provincial autonomy and concurrent list also came under discussion between the chief minister and the prime minister. "We appreciate the prime minister had said that Thar Coal project is a subject of Sindh which will benefit the entire country", she added. The minister further said that prime minister would take people into confidence after completion of 100 days of the government. Replying a question, she said PML-N is an important ally of the PPP both at national and provincial levels.
