RAWALPINDI - The annual tax-free budget of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) and Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) for fiscal year 2008-09 was presented with a total outlay of Rs 1592.840 million here on Thursday. Station Commander Brigadier Sajjad Azam announced the particulars of the budget of RCB and CCB in a press conference held here in the Board's meeting hall. Vice president Sheikh Inayatullah, Executive Officer Shabir Baloch and other higher officials were also present on the occasion. Extending the details of the budget, Brigadier Sajjad Azam said that total Rs 837.310 million had been earmarked for RCB and Rs 755.530 million for CCB for the current fiscal year. He told the newsmen that out of total budget Rs 161.500 million would be spent on annual development programme and Rs 24 million had been allocated for maintenance and repair works in RCB. Similarly, Brigadier Sajjad informed that Rs 275 million had been earmarked for original works and Rs 75 million would be spent on maintenance and repair work in the CCB during this year. In the next fiscal budget, major chunk of the development budget would be spent on various projects to resolve the traffic problems as Rs 75.681 million had been allocated for the roads in the RCB and Rs 160 million had been earmarked for roads in the CCB. To provide safe and clean drinking to the dwellers of both the Boards, Rs 36.598 million would be spent on water supply schemes in RCB while Rs 45 million would be spent in CCB during the current fiscal year. Speaking on the occasion, Brigadier Sajjad Azam said that the current fiscal budget is tax-free and no new tax had been imposed in this budget for the year 2008-09.
