PESHAWAR (Agencies) - The security forces on Thursday started patrolling Malagori, the sub-Tehsil of Jamrud, however according to sources the security forces abandoned their operation after the militants assured that the area would be vacated in case their leadership ordered them for it, but the security forces and the political administration did not confirm talks with the militants and said pressure would be mounted further in the area to achieve the goals. According to the Frontier Corps officials deployed in Malagori, the security forces did not take any action in the area and the purpose of their patrolling in the area was pressurising the criminal gangs' hideouts in the area. People of Malagori were scared after the huge contingents of Frontier Corps began patrolling in the area. The security forces moved to Malagori from Jamrud and Shakas FC fortes on Thursday morning and returned to barracks at the noon, told sources. It is worth mentioning here that unknown Taliban had kept the Khasadars in Malagori and Mohmand Agency after abducting 14 of them from Jamrud tehsil some 12 days back. The sources said the 61 arrested persons from Bara were kept in Jamrud who were to be transferred to Khyber House Peshawar. It was for the first time after the operation "Sirat-e-Mustaqeem" started in Khyber Agency that the security forces extended their deployment in Khyber Agency's sub-Tehsil Bara, the stronghold of Lashkar-e-Islam, but slowly it was extended to other parts of the Agency in Jamrud. Meanwhile, Pakistani helicopters took an aerial round over Tehsil Landikotal which frightened the local people as they were not expecting extension of the ongoing operation to tehsil Landikotal, comparatively the peaceful part of Khyber Agency, told the sources. Sher Khan Afridi from Bara adds: On the sixth consecutive day of operation against what the authorities call "criminals and miscreants" the personnel of security forces stood confined to their posts and camps throughout Bara region of Khyber Agency on Thursday. During a round to different parts of Bara region, this scribe witnessed that amidst tight security, the contingents of paramilitary troops were on "rest day" in their camps and posts. Early in the morning shops in several bazaars and shopping centres remained opened but at noon, the authorities ordered their shuttering down. However, in the afternoon the tribesmen returned to their routine business and trade activities. Getting advantage of calm and peaceful atmosphere certain supporters of rival religious groups  made an attempt to convince the political administration to enter into dialogue with the militant leaders. In this respect, a delegation of tribal elders visited the office of the Political Agent in Peshawar and besides demanding an end to the operation and stoppage of demolishing houses, they also suggested to the political agent to let them initiate efforts for reconciliation between the militant leaders and the administration. Though the political authorities told the tribal elders that they would convey their sentiments to the high-ups in FATA secretariat, yet the tribal elders had termed their efforts as "meaningful." Now the tribal elders after getting a green signal of the authorities would go to inaccessible Tirrah Valley where Lashkar Islam Chief Mangal Bagh, Lashkar Ansar chief Haji Mehboob and Amar Bil Maroof Haji Namdar are engaged in hostilities against each other. It is ironic to mention that certain circles believe that the so-called operation is meant to please the United States Deputy Secretary of States Mr. Richard Boucher. Now the authorities are hunting for a justification to stop the "so-called operation drama in Bara with the departure of the US Deputy Secretary of States." Meanwhile, four persons were killed and eight others injured during clashes between the gun-toting loyalists of Lashkar Islami and Lashkar Ansar in inaccessible Tirrah Valley of Khyber Agency. Our Staff Reporter adds: Five members of a family were critically injured when a shell hit a house in tehsil Matta, amidst firing between security forces and the alleged militants. As per details, amidst half an hour exchange of firing between the security forces and Taliban in Sarbanda area of Matta, a shell hit a house, injuring critically Sher Alam, his wife, mother and two daughters. All the injured persons were later admitted to Matta Hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, some unknown miscreants set a girls' school on fire in tehsil Kabal area in another incident and damaged the building. Moreover, Bomb Disposal Squad also defused a bomb planted in a school of Matta area. The police registered FIR against the unknown miscreants.
