PM Gilani visits City under tight security

LAHORE - A high-level security arrangements were maintained throughout the route of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani during his visit to Data Darbar and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here Saturday. Police and Rangers personnel besides other agencies officials were deployed on the roads to these places. Moreover not only outside but inside Data Darbar and Ganga Ram Hospital security officials were deployed long before the arrival of the prime minister. Accompanied by Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik, Provincial Minster for Finance Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, MNA Samina Khalid Ghurki and administrative officers, the prime minister reached Data Darbar and offered dua. All main routes were closed for traffic and the people as well as for two hours before the visit of the prime minister. 'Darbar attacks a conspiracy to ignite sectarian clashes Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Liaquat Baloch has termed the terrorist attacks on the premises of Data Darbar shrine a conspiracy to ignite the sectarian clashes amongst the Muslims. According to a statement issued on Saturday, Liaquat Baloch said that the enemies of Islam could commit act of such terrorism on the premises of Data Darbar shrine, saying all the religious and political parties of country were protesting over this act. Whereas all the sects as well as political and religious parties of Pakistan should counter the ongoing terrorism through their unity, Liaquat said. He said federal and provincial governments had failed to protect the life and property of the masses. Meanwhile Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Dr Sayed Waseem Akhtar and Nazir Ahmad Janjua said in their joint statement that innocent people of Pakistan were being killed in the ongoing surge of terrorism. They demanded that Interior Minister Rehman Malik and the CM Punjab should resign forthwith, alleging that Indian intelligence agencies were involved in the in terrorism.
