SIALKOT - The owners of all the 300 bricks kilns in Sialkot district Sunday kept their bricks kilns locked up for the third consecutive day as a protest against the levy of general sales tax (GST) by the government, as the supply of bricks was already lying suspended for the last four days in district. Talking to the newsmen here, Bricks Kilns Owners Association Sialkot District President Khawaja Zafar Iqbal termed the imposition of GST on bricks as great pity and injustice, saying that the levied GST would enhance the cost of the bricks, besides, rendering thousands labourers and workers as jobless. Meanwhile, hundreds of the bricks kilns owners and labourers took out a protest rally in Sialkot. The rally began from congested China Chowk and ended at Allama Iqbal Chowk after passing through all main city roads. The protesters were holding banners and placards and chanted anti-government slogans, demanding immediate withdrawal of the GST.
