The Punjab Health Department’s declaration that the upsurge of polio virus in Punjab has been caused by the immigrants from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Fata who migrated to Lahore in the wake of ongoing war of terror, is in utterly bad taste. One could accept such a statement if there was a spread of an epidemic but in view of the fact that there have been only nine cases of polio registered in the whole of Punjab in the recent past, blaming the two provinces is rather shameful. If the health authorities feel that the percentage of polio affectees in the two regions is excessive, what steps the government has taken to treat their patients and prevent spread of the disease. The government of Punjab may please note that, the PPP regime leaves no stone unturned in criticising Punjab for any administrative step it takes. Please do not buy the hatred of other provinces by issuing such silly statements.
