The newly constructed slaughterhouse of RTMA is already functioning, as the admin awarded the contract to a contractor worth Rs7.218 million. Besides, the contractor would also pay rent.  Town Officer (Regulation), Malik Touseef Ahmad talking to this agency said that the RTMA would start taking strict action against the illegal slaughtering from Thursday and two teams have been formed which would take action to stop illegal slaughtering in the city.

It may be mentioned here that many butchers had converted their houses into mini-slaughterhouses creating nuisance for the residents of areas including Sabzi Mandi, Purana Qila, Banni Chowk, Jamia Masjid Road and Sadiqabad.

He explained that the basic aim of the project was to provide hygienic meat to the people and stop butchers from slaughtering animals in the streets, which is troublesome to the residents.
