In spite of planned development in DHA Lahore Cantt with green parks and shopping areas, what it lacks is traffic police, resulting in daily accidents with people ignoring the traffic lights on the roads. It is a common scene that underage teenagers are driving badly on the roads, not only putting themselves at risk but others also. The worst traffic offenders can be seen on the crossing between CC and DD blocks in Phase IV, where motor cyclists jump the signal without any fear as they know that there is no traffic warden there. DHA authorities of Lahore Cantt ought to arrange for traffic police in these areas so that the drivers in general, and motor cycles, in particular can be made to fear the traffic police.Another important factor on the roads is the motor cycle riders. This being a poor country and transport is very expensive we have all seen whole families riding on a motorcycle endangering lives. There should be transport available, within reach of the poor masses, on all routes in the city, thus curtailing this deadly act.DR. M. YAQOOB BHATTI, Lahore, June 25.
