LAHORE- India has released nine Pakistani nationals, including five fishermen.

The Rangers’ personnel greeted the released prisoners and showered them with petals at Lahore's Wagah border.

The prisoners will be handed over to the Edhi Foundation and then sent to their respective families.

Earlier, the governments of Pakistan and India had exchanged lists of prisoners lodged in respective prisons.

The lists are exchanged under the Consular Agreement signed between the two countries in May 2008. They are to be exchanged twice a year, on January 1 and July 1 respectively.
