General Hospital sets up endoscopy unit at Paeds Dept

LAHORE - The Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has set up a dedicated Endoscopy Unit at the Pediatric Department for treatment of gastrointestinal diseases of children from infants to 18 years of age. Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Prof Sardar Al-Freed Zafar on Saturday inaugurated the unit having a state-of-the-art endoscopy facility for the poor patients.

Dr Aftab, Nusrat Tahira, Samreen Irshad, Tayyaba Habib and Rukhsana Arshad have undergone special training to perform modern endoscopy procedures. The PGMI principal said that the facility was available on a very limited scale in the public sector hospitals. He said that philanthropists would help facilitate the treatment of patients across the province. He added that there was no dearth of philanthropists who were always ready to serve humanity. He pointed out that it was the responsibility of the civil society and the corporate sector to spend a portion of its income on the welfare of the poor people especially on prevention and treatment of diseases so as to provide a healthy environment to the new generation.

The PGMI principal said that the high performance of the LGH was a proof of the fact that the philanthropists were proud to contribute financially, and they were convinced that their contribution would be spent honestly. He said that the doors of the LGH were open to all the rich and the poor alike, and the staff was always there to serve the suffering humanity and fulfill their duties. He added that he would devote all his energies to make the LGH a model institution in the light of the orders of the Punjab government and no minute would be spared in that regard.
