KHANEWAL - A youngster was killed as a result of firing between two students groups at Government Boys Degree College here on Saturday. According to details, the brawl between two students’ groups of boys degree college including Shahiryar Awan and Chand group broke out and one youngster namely Junaid Gujjar received bullet injury and died on the spot. According to initial reports, the deceased belonged to Chand group. Reportedly, there was an old enmity between Chand group and Awan group. Students and outsiders of these groups gathered to reconcile but Kashif Niazi of Awan group, got furious and opened an indiscriminate fire on Junaid.
He got two fire injuries and died on the spot. Dead body was shifted to DHQ hospital Khanewal. News of the murder sparked protest and students set fire and blocked the road in front of the DHQ Khanewal.
Many groups of students and youngsters were operating in Khanewal. Outsiders were commanding these student groups. Banners of these groups were displayed in different parts of the city. These groups included 555 group, Thakar group, Awan group and Chand group. Police did not take any action against these armed groups despite many complaints. According to the people, if police had taken the firing incident in front of a college, few days ago, between students, seriously, this incident would not have taken place. According to reports the college hostel was a hub of illegal activities of students and outsiders.
Police registered an FIR against Hamza son of Nazar, Sheharyar s/o Akram Khan, Kashif Niazi son of Bilal Niazi and two unidentified accused.
