LAHORE - The City police department has issued instructions to the police to compile a report of newly-established motor workshops in the City fearing that the Toyota Hiace used in the last Wednesdays attack on ISI and police headquarters might have gone through certain changes at one of the local workshops before the blast. According to sources, police experts believed that some adjustments might have been made in the explosives-laden Toyota Hiace that detonated the police buildings a week back, at a motor workshop. It is being viewed by the police experts that vehicles roof (upper part) was unexpectedly high as compared to originally manufactured Toyota Hiace. They also believed that it was not possible for untrained people to conceal or implant highly sensitive explosive material in such a large quantity in the vehicle without the help of motor mechanic or the trained people. The police experts told the high-ups that alteration of Toyota Hiaces body was made by the expert motor mechanics in a workshop with the help of tools or equipments that needed at least a whole day for this purpose. They further claimed that the implantation of the explosives in the said vehicle might also be done in a house situated in the City but involvement of a workshop cannot be ruled out. All the superintendents of the police divisions were asked to collect complete data about the newly-established motor workshops situated in their respective jurisdictions. The police was also directed to investigate if the white colour new Toyota Hiace has been spotted at any workshop or place. The police teams visited different markets known for motor workshops especially those situated near Mozong Chungi, Bahawalpur Raod, Choburgi Chowk, Lytton Road, Shahra-e-Fatima Jinnah, Waris Road, and Lawrence Road for being situated close to the blast site. The police department has also asked the police officials to collect information from the shopkeepers running their business near the workshops about the visit of people on Toyota Hiace. A comprehensive report should be submitted to the police headquarter as soon as possible, the SPs were directed.
