A better budget impossible, says MQM

LAHORE - MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar, who is also a federal minister, says a better federal budget was not possible in the prevailing situation. Giving his reaction on the budget, he said although some proposals given by his party had been accepted, there was need for more steps to navigate the country into the new century. In his opinion immediate steps should be taken to overcome energy crisis. Similarly, he said, the unjust system of taxes should be changed and all taxable income must be taxed. Middlemen, he said, were minting money but they were not paying taxes. He underlined the need for agricultural reforms, giving lands to the landless. Sattar claimed that it was only because of his party that RGST had not been imposed.
