OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Speakers at a function have stressed upon the need of reducing reliance on foreign aid and loans, increasing production, cutting non developmental expenditures and making sincere efforts to take the country out of prevailing crises. Quaid-e-Azam Forum organized the event to mark the announcement of division of the sub continent. Justice (retd) Manzoor Hussain Sial presided over the function here at at Quaid-e-Azam Library on Friday. Besides the chair, Justice (retd) Nasira Javed Iqbal, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Dr Rafiq Ahmed, Dr M A Soofi and Ahmar Bilal Soofi also addressed the function. Addressing the participants, Manzoor Hussain Sial said that the US has violated sovereignty of Pakistan by carrying out operation in Abbotabad. He was of the view that it was an opportunity for Pakistan to get economic independence by relying on own resources. He stressed upon reducing unnecessary spending and increasing production to put the economy of the country on the right path. He said that after the success of the judiciary restoration movement, there was need of making efforts to strengthen the institution. He said that independent judiciary and media could change destiny of the country. Nasira Javed Iqbal said that it was a pity that those who opposed Quaid-e-Azam and creation of the country were out to play the role of savior of Pakistan. She said that every newborn baby was under foreign debt and the rulers were out with begging bowl in their hands. She said that violation of sovereignty of Pakistan by the US was a matter of grave concern. She said that the nation was divided in religions and sects at the time when the country was facing serious challenges. He urged the youth to get their ID cards from NADRA and use their right to vote in a prudent manner. She said that a democratic change and not a bloody revolution was in the interests of the country. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami said that everyone has equal right on resources of the country and it was responsibility of the state to take from the privileged and distribute among the poor. He said that youth has given a ray of hope during the struggle for the restoration of the judiciary. He expressed hope that talented youths would guide the country out of chaos. Dr Rafiq Ahmed stressed upon focusing on primary and middle school education like the trend in the developed countries. He said that Pakistan has strategic importance on the globe and only capable and honest leadership was required. Dr M A Soofi said that that there was need to realize that everything was available due to the country. He said that even educated Muslim youth in India was facing pathetic situation. Ahmar Bilal Soofi said that the country possessed enormous resources and there was need of utilizing them properly. He said that instead of looking towards others, everybody should make efforts at individual level to put the country on the right path. He said that the nation was waiting for a statesman to guide the country out of chaos.
