OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - Pakistan's Tanvir Dar Hockey Academy (HA) Friday beat the Meet Other Players (MOP) Club's under-18 side 7-3 in the last match of the two-match series in Holland. According to information received here, the visitors went to the offensive right from the start. After wasting two penalty corners, a wonderful right side move in the 10th minute saw skipper Rizwan's good attempt saved by the goal keeper but Adeel was quick to pounce upon the rebound to open the account. The very next minute, the lead was doubled again through a right side attack; Bilal Mahmood was the scorer. The Lahore-based Dar HA continued with the aggressive approach and had three penalty corners in quick succession but to no avail. In the 25th minute, Aamer Ali added the third goal. Finally, the hoodoo was broken and a penalty corner, the sixth, was converted. Rana Zubair's high flick on the top left corner gave the goal keeper no chance. Down by four goals, the hosts tried to fight back. Bert Vd Boer opened the account for the hosts but Bilal snatched back four-goal lead again in the last minute of the first half. The MOP under-18 side put up an excellent show in the second half but couldn't take advantage of any chance. However, the Dar HA made their chances count. Both Adeel and Rana Zubair had their second goals of the evening. The first a field and second a penalty corner conversion. Trailing 1-7, the MOP side didn't lose heart and continued looking for goals. The persistence paid as Boer and Dennis Korver netted in quick succession. And the match ended 7-3. After the match, the Dar HA officials presented souvenirs to their hosts. These included a beautiful hand knitted carpet received by the Caspar Jan van Schaardenburg the president of the club.
