Government allocates Rs15 billion

ISLAMABAD - The government has allocated Rs 15 billion including Rs2500 million of foreign component for 29 projects including 27 ongoing and two new schemes of Ministry of Railways in Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the financial year 2011-12. PSDP 2011-12 released here on Friday revealed that for two new schemes an amount of Rs 1140 million have been allocated for new scheme replacement of three brake down/rescue cranes and procurement of five sets relief while Rs 1400 million have been allocated for another new scheme of rehabilitation of 27 (HGMU-30) class diesel electric locomotives revised PC-1). It is pertinent to mention here that for 27 ongoing schemes an amount of Rs 500 million have been allocated for on going project of Track Rehabilitation (Rehabilitation Plan), while Rs 16.605 million allocated for procurement of 69 D.E. Locos (China) and Rs 37.803 million have been allocated for procurement of 1300 high capacity wagons. Similarly, an amount of Rs 607.111 million have been allocated for doubling of track on Lodharan-Khanewal section via Loop Section (OPEC) while Rs 790.303 million have been allocated in PSDP for setting up procurement/ manufacture of 530 high capacity wagons and Rs 5 million have been allocated for conversion of Mirpur Khas- Khokhrapar meter gauge, while Rs 1750 million have been allocated for procurement/ manufacture of 75 new DE Locos Risalpur (China). An amount of Rs 8.970 million, Rs 34 million and Rs 18.555 million have been allocated for setting up dry port at Prem Nagar including acquisition of land, special repairs to 36 GMU-30 Locos and procurement of plant and machinery for C&W shop. Similarly, Rs 1200 million have been allocated for replacement of old Signaling Gear from Khanewal Shahdara Section (IDB). An amount of Rs 739.909 million have been allocated for rehabilitation, up gradation and conversion of 400 coaches while Rs 1 million have been allocated for pilot project for manufacture of five (3000HP) Locos. Further, Rs 6.807 million, Rs. 100.000 million and Rs 2100.704 million have been allocated augmentation of electrical power supply system in locos shop and steel Mughalpura-Lahore, rehabilitation of 159 weak bridges and damages to Railways assets. An amount of Rs 700.262 million have been allocated for doubling of track Khanewal to Raiwind Section while Rs 10.000 million have been allocated for revival of Karachi Circular Railways. Similarly, Rs 2050.000 million, Rs 23.000 million and Rs 40.000 million have been allocated for procurement/manufacture of 202 New Design passenger carriages, establishment of PMU in Ministry of Railways and feasibilities studies while Rs 7.433 million has been allocated for construction of new D class railway station at new Multan city.
