OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE - An accountability court on Friday extended 14-day physical remand of Syed Sibtul Hassan Gilani alias Double Shahs agent Zahid Farooq Cheema allegedly involved in cheating public at large through a luring promise of doubling their deposits, parallel to banking and criminal breach of trust. The court ordered NAB to produce the accused again on June 17. The NAB Punjab had authorised investigation against Sayed Sibtul Hassan Gilani alias Double Shah and others on the charges of cheating public at large. It found during the investigation that accused Zahid Farooq Cheema in connivance abetment and aiding of his principal accused Sayed Sibtul Hassan Gilani, their associates and close relatives lured and invited the investors to deposit money with them on the promise of returning their deposits with unprecedented (100 per cent profit) and to double to their investments after the expiry of specified period. The accused has also been found involved in receiving the amount in bulk from principal accused Sayed Sibtul Hassan. The accused has assets or gains acquired or made by principal accused / co-accused as consequence of offence by cheating public at large. The accused had been arrested on the apprehension of tempering evidence and to effect recovery of ill-gotten wealth and further investigation of the case is in progress also. Meanwhile, the accountability court recorded statement of witness in Al-huda Medical College reference filed against Sayed Asif Ali Bukhari for opening the college without taking approval from authority concerned.
