our staff reporter MIRPURKHAS - Provincial Minister for Agriculture Syed Ali Nawaz Shah has said that government was making efforts to establish cold storages in big towns where big markets were available and added that youths would be given training of modern technology of mango export so that local farmers could more benefit by exporting their crop. He was talking to media men here on Thursday following inauguration of 46th national annual Mango Mega Summer Fruit Festival 2011 Mirpurkhas in Shaheed Benazeer Bhutto Exhibition Hall here on Thursday night. On this occasion DCO Mirpurkhas Ghulam Hussain Memon, DPO Mirpurkhas Riaz Ahmed Soomro, chairman organising committee Anwer Gondal, farmers, government officers and citizens also participated. He further said that Mirpurkhas was the center for mango production and we wanted to promote and export mango in large quantity from Pakistan. He said that we also wanted to open export processing zone in big cities of Sindh so that local mango farmers could export their crop with modern facilities. He said that Pakistani mango were being exported and awareness was creating among farmers. He said that Pakistani mango is better than India and it has more demand in the world. In reply a question he said that there was shortage of water in the country but mangoes were being exported. He said that he has inaugurated mango festival third time here and added that traders were making efforts to export mango in big quantity. He said that we have over 100 varieties and about 80 varieties might be exported. Earlier, he inaugurated the mango festival by cutting the red ribbon and then visited the stalls of mangoes.
