ISLAMBAD-

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday issued notices to secretary information for removing the acting managing director (MD) of Pakistan Television (PTV).

While in another application moved by information ministry, the court has sought reply from PTV administration regarding the seniority of acting MD PTV.

Advocate Waqas Malik representing acting MD Mustafa Kamal Qazi stated before Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui that this court had issued orders to remove former MD PTV Yousaf Baig Mirza and directed the authorities to appoint senior most official as acting MD of PTV.

He further told the court that after this verdict, his client Mustafa Kamal Qazi was appointed as acting MD but now, information ministry had suspended the said notification of appointing Mustafa as acting MD. He maintained that this act of information ministry is equal to contempt of the court since they deliberately violated court’s orders. Therefore, he prayed to the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against them.

After hearing the arguments, the court issued notices to secretary information and adjourned the hearing till June 6.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice IHC Justice Muhammad Anwar Kasi heard the application moved by information ministry and sought reply from PTV administration regarding the seniority of Mustafa Kamal.

In the application, the ministry maintained that Qazi is not the senior most director while the court had ordered to appoint the senior most director as acting MD PTV.
