Lahore- The Punjab Cabinet is likely to be finalised on June 6 after the oath-taking of Mian Shahbaz Sharif as chief minister.
A party insider said Shahbaz, believing in quality and not quantity, would like to take less than 10 members in the cabinet in the first phase. However, the total number of ministers might cross over two dozens later on.
Shahbaz is used to pick the best of the lot; however this time the task is a bit harder as the PML-N has more 300 MPAs and every one is aspiring for an office in the government.
Sources said that at present various names are under discussion while some of other aspirants are running their horses or lobbying to get place in the next phase. Rana Sanaullah, Malik Nadeem Kamran, Malik Iqbal Chunnar, Ehsanuddin Qureshi and Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman are the most probable candidates to be added in the cabinet.
Besides them, the names of Manshaullah Butt, Bilal Yasin, Zaeem Hussain Qadri Majid Zahoor, Tahir Khalil Sindhu, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Rana Shamshad, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz and Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan are also under consideration.
Sources said at present five candidates from the city are in the run for the ministerial offices, and in the first phase only two of them are expected to be accommodated. Shahbaz Sharif would take final decision in this regard after the oath-taking and consultation with the PML-N president Nawaz Sharif.
