Schools asked for early utilisation of repair funds

LAKKI MARWAT- Local authorities of the Education Department have warned the heads of certain government schools to utilise funds meant for special repair, renovation of playgrounds and purchase of furniture up to June 10 otherwise strict departmental action will be initiated against them.
Sources in the department said that government had provided millions of rupees to government schools for special repair, demarcation of playgrounds and purchase of furniture last year. “But the amount was not utilised by many schools for unknown reasons” they maintained.
They told that DEO Haji Taj Ali Khan constituted a four-member committee to ascertain the causes of non-utilisation of funds and to unearth any possible misappropriation by probing the matter thoroughly. They said that the committee headed by DDEO Haji Khalid Wahab visited the schools and came to know that funds had not be utilized by many schools.
They said that in the light of committee’s report the heads of educational institutions had been strictly directed to ensure transparent utilisation of funds up to June 10.
Sources told that education authorities completed their homework to initiate disciplinary action against schools’ bosses if they failed to spend funds on relevant things up to given deadline.
