LAHORE - A judicial magistrate on Tuesday granted four-day physical remand of Lesco CEO Arshad Rafique and GM (Operations) Mehboob Ali to FIA over their alleged involvement in corruption, abuse of power and causing massive monetary loss to national exchequer.

The FIA had arrested Arshad Rafique over charges of corruption and abuse of power along with Mehboob Ali for facilitating his boss in the crime. The Lesco chief was conducting unscheduled long hours load shedding at different domestic and commercial feeders to facilitate the industry. The decision to supply electricity mainly to textile industry at cost of heavy shutdown in domestic limits was based on financial corruption instead of administrative decision. It is said that both officials had been arrested on special direction of new secretary of water and power ministry Nargis Sethi.
