ISLAMABAD - Claims about making Islamabad a safe city by those who are at the helms of affairs were ridiculed by terrorists who despite stringent security measures managed to reach the heart of capital on Tuesday and injure two policemen belonging to newly established rapid response force. "Terrorists shot at a vehicle of rapid response force in Aabpara Market and wounded two policemen and fled," a spokesperson of Islamabad police said.
The injured cops were rushed to Polyclinic where doctors pronounced them out of danger.
"Cops received bullets in lower abdomen and limbs. Both are of out of danger and getting the best medical facilities," Dr Arsalan told The Nation.
Soon after the firing incident, IGP Aftab Cheema reached the scene and ordered to seal the capital to get hold of terrorists. However, police teams did not succeed to arrest the accused till filing of this report.
A wave of fear gripped the Aabpara locality following the incident.
Earlier in recent past, the terrorists managed to plant bomb/explosive material in an under-construction house in Bari Imam, just half kilometre away from the residences of the president and prime minister. Moreover, terrorist attacks on Islamabad district courts and fruit market had also shown failure of police force.
