Islamabad - The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalised the arrangements for celebrating World Environment Day 2015 falling tomorrow (Friday).
World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 every year around the world to highlight the importance of the healthier environment and defuse the ill-effects of climatic changes on the planet earth. On the directions of Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal, the environment wing of CDA has planned different colourful programmes in connection with World Environment Day. The CDA’s World Environment Day celebrations would start at 09:00am on Friday at Rose and Jasmine Garden with a theatre performance to celebrate the festivity of the day.
An awareness walk and cleanliness campaign would also be held at Rose and Jasmine Garden at 10:30am to highlight the significance of clean and green environment in human life.
The CDA has also arranged a painting competition on the importance of environment at 11:00am. A painting exhibition has also been arranged where winners of the competition will be awarded certificates. The main feature of the celebrations is a seminar on “Combating Climate Change Impacts” which will be held at Pak-China Friendship Centre on June 5. Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal will be the chief guest of this event whereas renowned experts and environmentalists will deliver speeches.
