Karachi: A local court in Karachi on Thursday handed over Axact CEO Shoaib Sheikh and eight other suspects to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a nine-day physical remand in the latest development in the fake diploma scandal.

The accused were presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate Noor Muhammad Kalmati.

During the proceedings investigation officer informed the court that interrogation in the case has not been completed yet. Another 100,000 fake degrees have been recovered and four more suspects have been detained on the information given by the accused.

He said ongoing investigation will go waste if remand of the suspects is not extended.

Meanwhile, defense lawyer argued that all Axact offices and bank accounts were sealed before registration of First Information Report (FIR) whereas his clients are being pressurized in the name of investigation.

After hearing the arguments, the court sent nine accused including Shoaib Sheikh nine-day physical remand.
