Islamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today expressed grief over the deaths of as many as 18 people in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) local body (LB) polls and asked if this is the ‘new Pakistan’.

He said that different incidents which happened during the LB elections claimed lives of at least 18 people, adding this number of people never even died in general elections.

The PM criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and remarked if this is the ‘new Pakistan’ that the opposition party promised. The PTI government is playing with the lives of the people, he added.

He further said that PTI accused Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of rigging the General elections 2013 and now the party went ahead and rigged LB polls in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa.
