LAHORE - The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday summoned the managing director of Brothers Sugar Mills on June 05 over nonpayment to farmers.

The court issued this order while hearing a contempt of court petition filed by Chaudhry Nisar Ahmed, a sugar cane farmer.

Ahmad, through his counsel, submitted in the court that Brothers Sugar Mills was not releasing his Rs2.5 million despite the court orders.

On May 06, the court had directed the mill officials to pay the due amount at which the government has submitted before the court that by the end of May this year, all farmers would be paid for their sugarcane, he stated in his application.

The month of May has passed already but amount is still not paid, his counsel told the court.

After hearing the arguments, the court summoned Brothers Sugar Mills GM Raza Shah and issued notice to managing director of the mills, cane commissioner Punjab, DCO Kasur and AC Chunia.
