LAHORE  - Police Wednesday claimed to have arrested two men for murdering of an eight-year-old girl after rape. The child was found strangled after being gang-raped in Tibbi City police precincts a couple of days ago. Police sources revealed that both the accused, Shahbaz and Zulfikar, have confessed to the investigators that they were under the influence of liquor when the raped and then killed the child.
According to initial investigation, the girl was playing in the street in Tibbi City when two men riding on a motorcycle abducted her. She was taken to a deserted house where both Shahbaz and Zulfikar raped her. The rapists then strangulated the girl to death and fled after throwing her body alongside a road. Some passersby spotted the body and contacted the police by phone some three days ago.
Lahore Acting- DIG (Investigations) Rana Ayyaz Saleem taking notice of the brutal murder constituted a special police team to unearth the merciless killers. The police team collected particulars of some suspects besides recoding the statement of the mother of the deceased. The investigators then arrested Shahbaz and Zulfikar on suspicion during a pre-dawn raid.
During interrogation, the alleged killers also confessed to the police that they had murdered the child fearing that she might disclose their names since the child was familiar them.
