PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information and Culture Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that the problems of artistes and singers would be resolved on priority basis.
He informed that an art academy is being constructed to benefit artiste community. He was speaking as the chief guest at a gathering organised under the joint venture of the Culture Journalists Forum (CJF), Bacha Khan Education Foundation (BEF) Takhleeq Development Foundation (TDF) at Peshawar Press Club here Saturday to celebrate the World Music Freedom Day. The minister called upon the artiste and singer community to get united at one platform and work for the promotion of cultural activities in the province.
He said that his government had extended financial support to senior 80 artistes and singers and also has had provided conducive environment to them to display their art. “A state-of-the-art academy is being constructed near the Nishtar Hall where young aspiring artistes will get training and senior artistes will impart their skills to polish young talent. “A bill on a solid cultural policy can be tabled in the provincial assembly in the light of suggestions and proposals of all the stakeholders including poets, writers, intellectuals and civil society members.”
