PESHAWAR  - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has imposed a ban on 27 private security companies after cancelling their licence.

According to KP Home Department, a ban had been imposed on 27 security companies which had not got them registered or didn’t have office in the concerned districts.

Sources said that various private security companies providing services to US Consulate in Peshawar and different missions of UN were not registered with the Home Ministry.

The KP Home Ministry, through a communiqué, has directed all the commissioners to take action against unregistered private companies under Ordinance 2002 of the private security companies and seal their offices.

On the other hand, spokesman for the private security companies in Peshawar said the companies had applied for renewal of their licences but their applications were not entertained.

It is to be mentioned here that a ban on security companies could render hundreds of security guards jobless depriving them of their livelihood.
