SADIQABAD -Parents in Rahim Yar Khan have demanded immediate closure of net cafes which are what they said promoting nudity and causing moral destruction of their children.

Use of the Internet has become common in the district. The growing number of Internet cafes is a clear evidence that the number of people using the facility is constantly increasing. Students of schools and colleges are often seen at these net cafes not to conduct research work or get educational help from the internet facility but to watch porn movies and pictures. The purpose of the internet points is to ensure easy access to internet in order to get modern information across the world on every topic but the centres in the cities and rural areas of the district have become hubs of promoting immorality which could create destructive affects at the national level. At the net centres, students remain busy in chatting and watching immoral movies and photos. The students leave houses for their schools but do not reach their respective institutions rather converged at these hubs of immorality. Thus, the students’ future is at stake. The parents have urged the officials concerned to take strict action against the promotion nudity and immorality via the internet facility.

They demanded that the cafes should be held binding to code of conduct so that the points could play a key role in national progress in spite of promoting immorality.

It is worth mentioning that in India, internet censorship is selectively practiced by both federal and state governments. While there is no sustained government policy or strategy to block access to Internet content on a large scale, measures for removing content that is obscene or otherwise objectionable, or that endangers public order or national security have become more common in recent years. On the other side net café owners were of the view that the youths chat with foreigners.
