RAWALPINDI - Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, on Saturday said that the corrupt rulers had siphoned off the country’s wealth abroad and time had come for the people of Pakistan to fix those looters and plunderers.

“Ali Baba and his 40 accomplices should be brought to justice. PML-N leadership will bring true and genuine democratic order in the country as per dreams of Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal,” he added.

The chief minister said this while addressing a huge public gathering at Government Graduate College for Women, Peshawar Road, after inaugurating the Golra Sharif Road, which was made dual-lane with Rs 300 million. He also laid foundation stone of Peshawar Road Expansion Project worth Rs 540 million at Chuher Chowk. The road will be expanded from Chuher Chowk to Chairing Cross.

The CM, while addressing the public meeting, said that PML-N would make Pakistan a country dreamed by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He said that the education system would also be improved while free of cost health facilities would also be provided to the poor in Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology. The PML-N was committed to mitigating the maladies of masses, said Shahbaz, adding that his party had also chalked out comprehensive development plan for the people of Pakistan. “The PML-N leadership is purged of corruption. I will step down from my office and go to the people’s court if the corruption charges are proved against me,” claimed CM Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif. Coming down hard on PPP-led government, he said that a gang of corrupt muggers had been ruling over the country which had destroyed all the profit-earning institutions in a bid to fill in their pockets. He said that the PML-N would recover all the looted money soon after winning the next general elections.

He said that Pakistan was achieved after countless sacrifices but despite the passage of 64 years it was still facing various problems and crises. He said that owing to erroneous policies of the government, the country was pushed into complete darkness.

He said that energy crisis had left a deep negative impact on industrial, trade, agriculture and other sectors while the worst corruption had weakened the foundations of the country.

“The nation is all set to get rid of a corrupt government. Pakistan on the one hand is a nuclear power while on the other hand its rulers are begging alms from international community,” he lamented. With these words, the emotional PML-N workers started chanting anti-PPP slogans by bouncing stuffed lions, the election symbol of PML-N, into air. On this, Shahbaz Sharif said “Do not show the lion so much otherwise President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari will run from the country with fear.”

Pakistanis were a poor nation but they have honour and dignity and want trade rather aid and need technology, said the CM in addition with foreign assistance weakens the country and any aid which is conditional undermines the self-respect of a nation.

He said that Punjab government had allocated Rs 2 billion for the improvement of roads in cantonment areas of Rawalpindi. He said that the Chandni Chowk Flyover would be completed soon and open for traffic within few days.

He said that the government would soon start the Institute of Cardiology in Rawalpindi where the people would get free of cost treatment despite the fact that the cardiac treatment was very expensive. He said that the Punjab government would bear all the expenses in this regard.
