LAHORE – Secretary Regulations has signed the summary of regularising 700 senior registrars and district specialists and forwarded it to the CM Secretariat for approval, Pakistan Medical Association claimed in a press release issued on Saturday.
PMA office bearers said that the case of regularisation of 400 SRs and 300 DSs was pending with the office of the Secretary Regulation for the last four weeks after the meeting of the Service Rules Committee. The summary had now reached the Law Secretary from there it will be sent to the CM Secretariat via Chief Secretary Punjab. PMA office bearers have appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister to personally look into the matter and resolve the issue which has been pending since 2009.
Medical College: Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has approved the name “Ameer-ud-Din Medical College” for proposed PGMI Medical College, in recognition of the services rendered by Emirati Professor of Surgery Dr Ameer-ud-Din. Principal Prof Tariq Salah-ud-Din said that the name had been suggested by faculty members of PGMI. He said that the new medical college would be affiliated with LGH and its students would be taught and guided by seasoned and experienced faculty members of PGMI.
Prof Tariq Salah-ud-Din said that the Punjab Chief Minister was making sincere efforts for the promotion of medical education and provision of quality healthcare facilities in the province. He said that in accordance with the CM’s vision, PhD programme was also being introduced at PGMI. This programme would go a long way to turn PGMI into one of the greatest medical institutions in the region, he added. He said that an NGO has promised to provide the funding of one million dollars to PGMI for the programme to send doctors to USA for higher medical education, specialization and research.
