World Bank approves of Punjab Watan Card


LAHORE – The World Bank Mission has expressed satisfaction over the distribution process of Watan cards, while its visit to the card centers in Kot Addu and Muzaffargarh
Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khalid Sherdil told the media on Saturday that the second phase of distribution of Watan cards worth Rs 40 thousand each has been initiated on the instruction of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
Watan cards worth Rs11.80 billion will be distributed among 295 thousand flood affectees in this phase of the rehabilitation programme.
Flood affectees of district Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Jhang, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan, are among the beneficiaries of the Watan card scheme.
Khalid Sherdil said that more than 610 thousand Watan cards worth a total of Rs12.3 million were earlier released to the flood affectees as financial assistance.
He added that the distribution process was continuing transparently throughout the province and the World Bank Mission had highly appreciated the efforts made by the Punjab government.
