PML-N wins PP-81 by-polls

PML-N Candidate Muhammad Khan Baloch has won the by-election to PP-81 Jhang-cum-Chiniot by securing 51,251 votes against his rival PTI candidate Taimor Hayat Bhatti who got 45,629 votes, according to unofficial results. According to details, polling for the by-election in the district started at 8:00am and continued till 5:00PM in the evening. A total of 171 polling stations and 429 polling booths were set up for a total of 1,84,187 voters in the constituency. According to the polling plan, 145 polling stations were set up in Jhang district while 26 in Chiniot. Similarly out of total polling stations, 66 were declared highly sensitive. The polling were held in a peaceful manner except some minor scuffles in some polling stations while the result of polling station number 98 was withheld and sent to Returning Officer after stamped ballot papers were recovered from presiding officer. However, turnout remained thin mainly due to rainy weather.
It is to be noted that PP-81 fell vacant after PML-N MPA Iftikhar Khan Baloch was disqualified for having a fake degree.  PML-N candidate M Khan Baloch and PTI candidate Taimor Bhatti contested one-on-one for the seat after the PPP candidate Sajid Chaudhry withdrew his candidature.
Meanwhile, PTI Punjab President Ijaz Chaudhry and Yasmeen Rashid visited various polling stations and termed the polling process as satisfactory.
