LAHORE  -  Parts of the country including Lahore received rainfall of varying intensities on Saturday, disturbing routine life by causing inundation on roads, roadsides, traffic jams, power shutdowns and water shortage. The rains, however, made weather pleasant by decreasing temperature during the day and at nighttime.  In Lahore, rains started last night that continued intermittently throughout the day. The rains, though light, added to the woes of motorists and pedestrians as the rainwater inundated on portions of roads and roadsides. Inundated and slippery conditions caused massive traffic jams. Several incidents of skidding of motorcycles were reported from various parts of Lahore. The wet conditions caused tripping of more than two dozens Lesco feeders, plunging portion of Lahore in darkness.  Clouds, intermittent rains and winds caused decrease in the mercury level, making weather pleasant.  Maximum and minimum temperature in Lahore was recorded 23 degree Celsius and 15C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 80 per cent.  According to the experts, westerly wave is affecting central and upper parts of the country and likely to persist during the next 12 to 18 hours.  Local meteorological department has forecast mainly dry weather for most parts of the country including Lahore during the next couple of days.
