OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said availability of urea fertilizer is very important for the next wheat crop, and hence fertilizer factories should be exempted from load-shedding of Sui gas so that required fertilizers can be produced for the next crop. He was addressing a meeting regarding supply of urea for Khareef crop here on Tuesday. Minister Agriculture Ahmad Ali Aulakh, Secretary Food Irfan Elahi, Director General Agriculture (Extension) Dr Anjum and other officers were also present on the occasion. The meeting was informed that timely supply of fertilizer for Khareef crop was essential for better production, and therefore, the federal government should be requested that either the required fertilizer should be imported or fertilizer factories of Punjab, which were not operating due to load-shedding should be provided sui gas so that they could produce fertilizers. It was also informed that the fertilizer factories of the province could meet the requirement if the supply of gas was restored. Khosa directed the department to send a summary to the Chief Minister requesting him that federal government should be contacted for exempting fertilizer factories in the province from load-shedding of Sui gas.
