OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE A citizen on Tuesday alleged the Ministry for Haj Affairs was going to loot the pilgrims again in the guise of different schemes and was what he said plundering Rs 75 billion in this regard. Hafiz Muhammad Afzal, a resident of 31-F Origa Centre Gulberg II, while addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club alleged that the ministry was charging more than the market rate fixed for Haj packages being arranged by different private groups. He said that PIA was charging Rs 92,000 as fare from Karachi to Jeddah for four-hour journey from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia, while the Qatar Airways, Emirates Air Lines and Gulf Airline offer the fare of Rs 66,124, Rs 67,326 and Rs 64,038 respectively. He said that the ministry was also charging Rs 4,000 as life insurance from each pilgrim by declaring it mandatory and the ministry would collect about Rs 3.6 million in terms of insurance money.
